The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on March 21 that it would accept two Myanmar deportees from the United States. The first two Myanmar nationals will arrive in Myanmar separately by air on March 19 and March 28. They will be welcomed and supported by officials upon their arrival.
The statement indicated that countries worldwide frequently deport illegal immigrants who threaten their national interests or engage in criminal activity. Similarly, the new U.S. administration prioritizes the deportation of foreigners who have violated immigration laws and committed crimes, as outlined in the statement.
Therefore, the statement advised citizens to leave the country through legal channels, adhere to the relevant domestic laws of the countries they visit, and abide the law in their home countries. The Myanmar Embassy in Washington announced on February 5 that Myanmar citizens in the United States should take steps to obtain legal documents and residency in advance. According to data released by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, there are 679 Myanmar citizens among over 1.4 million people to be deported by the US government.
