No-fishing season in Myanmar’s seas for the current fiscal year has been changed to the period of May, June and July, according to the Department of Fisheries. Last fiscal year, no fishing season was set for April, May and June.
During the closed fishing season, operation of all offshore fishing boats must be completely stopped. Inshore fishing boats and fish-carrying boats will be allowed to travel in the sea during this period.

Since the fishing season in Myanmar’s seas has been closed, all offshore fishing boats have stopped their operations, and fishermen working in the sea have returned to ports by April 30, according to fishing boat operators.
In Myanmar’s seas, there are many fishing grounds in Ayeyawady, Tanintharyi, Yangon, Mon and Rakhine regions, and there are about 1,500 large offshore fishing boats in the Tanintharyi Region offshore fishing grounds.
