2613rd anniversary of Shwe Dagon Pagoda Buddha Pujaniya Festival will be held starting on March 4, according to Shwe Dagon Pagoda Board of Trustee. The festival will be held for 10 days from March 4 to March 13 on the Shwe Dagon platform.
The Tabaung Festival will be launched on March 4 and rice offerring ceremony will be held on March 12, the day before Buddhist sabbath, said a reponsible person from Shwe Dagon Pagoda Information team. It has been reported that a total of 120 monks will continuously recite the Maha Patthana scriptures for 216 hours without stopping on the platform of the Shwedagon Pagoda.
Furthermore, alms offering will be held at the auspicious ground of victory on the pagoda platform on March 13 at 5.am and the closing ceremony of the Buddha Pujaniyya Tabaung Festival (victory ceremony) and the water pouring ceremony will be held at the Chanthargyi Tazaung at 9.am.
