The Japanese Embassy in Myanmar has announced that it will soon extend the long-term residence permit for Myanmar citizens who are travelling to Japan to work and hold a valid residence visa issued after completing the visa application process specified by the Japanese Embassy in Myanmar.

Currently, due to the changes in the labour dispatch system of the Ministry of Labor and the impact of the strong earthquake, there are delays in the process of issuing overseas employment identification cards. As a result, the Japanese Embassy has announced an extension of the long-term residence visas for Myanmar citizens intending to work in Japan. To apply for the extension of the long-term residence permit, the employing company in Japan must submit a document confirming that the worker will continue to be employed under the primarily designated job responsibilities. Additionally, applicants must possess a valid visa issued by the embassy.
