Cooperative measures on encouraging foreign travellers to visit Myanmar during the upcoming Thingyan Festival will be taken, Dr. Kyaw Min Tun, Vice-Chairman 2 of Myanmar Hoteliers Association (Central).

As Myanmar’s Thingyan traditional cultural festival has become listed as a UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage, efforts are being made to attract foreign tourists to the festival, and in doing so, hoteliers will work together with the participation of the public in this effort under the guidance of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Dr. Kyaw Min Tun said.

He also said that brother and sister associations would work together with the relevant ministry to promote recovery of Myanmar’s tourism industry.According to the statistics of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, more than one million foreign travellers visited Myanmar in 2023, and over 500,000 foreign travellers visited the country in the first five months of 2024.
