A tornado hit near Pyinmakan Village in Thonegwa Township, Yangon Region on the evening of April 8, damaging three houses, said a resident from Thonegwa Township. The tornado said to last only a few minutes and there were no injuries to people or animals.

The tornado damaged only three houses near Pyinmakan Village and there was no other major damage, said another resident from the township. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said in a statement on April 9 at 2 pm that due to the powerful low pressure area forming in the west-central Bay of Bengal and the southwest Bay of Bengal, most regions and states, including Yangon Region, may experience heavy rain and thunderstorms from April 9 to 12.
