Accompanied with strong wind, thunderstorms are likely during the pre-monsoon period, according to the statement released by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology on April 15.
During the pre-monsoon period, from mid-April until the southwest monsoon enters Myanmar, air turbulence and gradually rising day temperatures may cause convective clouds to form in the afternoon and evening. Due to the convective clouds, thunderstorm with strong wind, lightning strike, flash of lightning, hailstorm and scattered thunderstorm may occur, and surface wind speed in strong wind may reach 40 to 50 miles per hour, according to the statement.
Therefore, the public is advised to specially take necessary awareness of possible weather events during the pre-monsoon period, from mid-April until the southwest monsoon enters Myanmarm and domestic airlines and cruises are also advised to take precautionary measures, the statement said.
