U Pyi Phyo Se, Director (Urban) of the Highway Maintenance and Supervision Committee, told One News that repairs have been made to some bridges and roads on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway that were damaged by the earthquake, and that small vehicles will be allowed to travel from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw starting April 5.
The bridge entrances at mileposts 145 and 165 of the expressway have been lowered and the bridge piers have been bent, so repairs have been made, and a temporary bailey bridge has been erected at the Swa Chaung bridge.
Therefore, small vehicles will be allowed to pass along the expressway from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw starting from April 5,. Large vehicles and heavy vehicles will have to pass through other bypass roads.
From Nay Pyi Taw, traffic will be allowed to pass up to milepost 352 of the expressway, and from there, traffic between milepost 365 and 3 furlongs will be closed currently, said Director (Urban) U Pyi Phyo Se.
