The Indian Embassy in Myanmar released a statement on April 13 that a team of Indian engineers has participated in the inspection of the old Inwa Bridge over the Ayeyarwaddy River damaged by the Mandalay earthquake.
The Indian team of experts and engineers for disaster relief and rehabilitation assisted Myanmar authorities in assessing earthquake-affected areas in Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, as well as the railway track of the old Inwa Bridge over the Ayeyarwaddy River in Mandalay, said the statement.
The Indian government has so far sent 666 tonnes of emergency relief supplies, including food, drinking water, blankets, medical supplies, generators, tents, first aid kits, personal hygiene kits and water purification systems, under Operation Brahma, said Mr. Abhay Thakur, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar.
So far, seven aircraft and six Indian naval ships have delivered humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) supplies, and over 1,200 patients have been treated at the Indian field hospital in Mandalay, he said.
