There were 60 aftershocks in a period of six days until the night of April 2 after the very strong earthquake occured on March 28, according to a statement released by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
After the strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck at 12:51:22 pm Myanmar Time on March 28, it was followed by 60 aftershocks until the night of April 2, the statement said.
The number of earthquakes were 13 on March 28, 11 on March 29, 10 on March 30, 13 on March 31 and seven each on April 1 and 2, 61 in total, the statement said.
Among the earthquakes that occurred from March 28 to the evening of April 2, the strongest was a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale, and the weakest was a magnitude of 2.8, according to the statement.
