The Myanmar men’s national basketball team has started preparations for the 2025 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), which will take place in Thailand, according to Myanmar Basketball Federation Secretary U Kyaw Kyaw Win in an interview with One News.
The Myanmar men’s national basketball team has selected over 30 preliminary players who are currently undergoing preliminary physical strength training. U Kyaw Kyaw Win said that the team’s goal is not only to succeed in the SEA Games but also to promote the development of basketball in Myanmar.

The team will hold tryouts in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw in May and September to assess the qualifications of the players for selection to the Myanmar men’s national basketball team, according to U Kyaw Kyaw Win. He also said that social support will be provided to former players of the Myanmar men’s national basketball team. The 33rd SEA Games will be held in Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla, Thailand, from December 9 to 20, 2025, featuring 50 different sports.
