Treasures found by the Tatmadaw members and staff who are voluntarily working to recover the damaged diamond bud of the Gandhakuti Kyaungdawgyi at Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay have been handed over to the Pagoda Board of Trustees, according to the statement released by the Information Team of the State Administration Council on April 8.
The powerful Mandalay earthquake caused the crested headdress of the Mahamuni Buddha Image to tilt, the western side of the golden umbrella to tilt, the diamond bud to the ground, and the collapse of some of the four corners of the Gandhakuti Kyaungdawgyi where the Mahamuni Buddha Image is enshrined.

Tatmadaw members and officials of the Pagoda Board of Trustees worked together on the platform of the Mahamuni Pagoda to clear the debris with the help of machinery. In doing so, 1,250 various jewelry items weighing 207 kyattha, 3 petha, and 7 yway were found in the ruins of the building on the platform west of Gandhakuti Kyaungdawgyi, from March 28 to April 8, and the officials have systematically transferred them to the Pagoda Board of Trustees, the statement said.
Efforts are being made to be able to carry out restoration work of the crested headress of the Mahamuni Buddha Image, diamond bud and golden umbrella of the Mahamuni Pagoda, which was damaged by the earthquake, as soon as possible, and the repair work of the religious buildings is also being implemented as soon as possible.
