The entire body of Shwedagon Pagoda was gilded with 192 visses, 1 tical 8 pethas, and 14,181 packets of Myat-Par gold leaf, according to U Myo Aung Htay, a member of the Shwedagon Pagoda Treasurer’s Board of Trustees and head of the Gold and Jewelry Department.
Shwedagon Pagoda’s entire body was gilded in 2024–2025 with 1403 gold plates, 10,700 gold coatings, and totaling 192 visses, 1 tical and 8 pethas of pure gold,. According to reports, three different kinds of gold were donated: Myat-Par gold, a 12-inch square gold plate weighing six ticals, and gold coating that weighed one tical and measured 10-inch square. To gild the entire Shwedagon Pagoda, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy sells gold, with each tical costing Ks. 2.5 million.
The program to gild the entire body of the Shwedagon Pagoda has been carried out every five years, and in the next 5 years, it is said that the gold plate and gold coating will be started to produce for the next five years. The 2024-2025 Shwedagon Pagoda entire body gilding ceremony , the Buddha consecration ceremony and merit sharing ceremony were held on the morning of May 24.
