The process of offering gold foils to the whole structure of The Shwedagon Pagoda has been completed 80 percent, according to the statement released by the Information Team of the State Administration Council.
On February 15, Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party inspected the progress of offering gold foils to the pagoda and offered gold plates.
The Prime Minister and party inspected the maintenance works on the Shwedagon Pagoda’s diamond bud and paid homage to the diamond bud. They offered offerings of precious stones and religious objects to the pagoda and sprinkled scented water. Next, two six-tical gold plates were donated
by the SAC Chairman and family at the plantain bud of the pagoda and scented water was sprinkled.

After that, the Union Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture and the members of the Pagoda Board of Trustees reported to the SAC Chairman and party on the history of offering gold plates and foils to The Shwedagon Pagoda over the successive eras and completion of offering foils to the pagoda in the period of 2024-2025. Then, the SAC Chairman and party gave instructions to officials to continuously carry out measures to ensure the long-term existence and durability and cleanliness of the pagoda.
Gold plates and foils are being offered to the whole structure of the pagoda in 2024-2025. So far, 80 percent of the work has been completed and the whole process will be completed by the third week of March this year, the statement said. Currently, 140 six-tical gold plates in the size of one sq foot and 2,500 gold plates in the size of one sq foot remain to be donated. Well-wishers can donate 15 million kyats for a six-tical gold plate and 2.5 million kyats for a one-tical gold plate respectively.
