Monks and the public donated over 192 viss of pure gold to guild the entire body of the Shwedagon Pagoda for 2024-2025, according to the Shwedagon Pagoda Treasurer’s Board of Trustees.
The entire body of the Shwedagon Pagoda has been gilded on average once every five years since 1999 along with the new golden umbrella.

This time, the monks and the public donated 1403 6-tical gold plates, 10,700 one-ticle gold plates totalling 192 viss, one ticle and eight petha of pure gold to the pagoda and offered 14,181 pieces of Myat-par gold leaf. Gilding the entire body of the pagoda included the construction of the scaffolding, the cleaning of the pure gold plates, the collecting of the list of damaged gold plates, the donors carrying the gold plates by chariot, the replacing of damaged gold plates and the dismantling of the scaffolding. After that, it is learnt that the pagoda was consecrated with 108 monks led by 11 Ovada Cariya Sayadaws.
