The funeral cremation ceremony of The State Ovadacariya Chairperson of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru, Presiding Nayaka of Sasana Gonyi Chanthargyi Monastery Bhaddanta Paññissara Bhivamsa was held at Sasana Gonyi Chanthargyi Monastery on the afternoon of February 15.
First, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, officials and devotees observed the Five Precepts from State Ovadacariya, The State Ovadacariya Tipitakadhara Selection Examination Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Sayadaw of Moegaung Monastery, Hinthada Township, Bhaddanta Sudhammacara mahāthera. Then, the Region Chief Minister and officials covered the remains of the Sayadaw with the diamond velvet donated by the Ministry of Relagious Affairs and Culture.
Then, Vice-Chair of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Meiktila Sayadaw Bhaddanta Cauvida read out the message of condolence sent by State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee. U Myo Nyunt Aung, Director General of Religious Affairs read out the message of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and presented offertories to Buddhist monks.
Then they listened to the sermons by Secretary General of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Patron Sayadaw of Masoeyein Taikthit Bhaddanta Vasetda Bhivamsa and poured water and shared the merits gained.Then State Sangha Central Working Committee Sayadaw Tawtaik Patipatti Relagious School in Mingaladon township Bhaddanta Vaipunla recited The Verses of Reflection and the verses of apology and seeking forgiveness for any wrongdoing were also recited by the State Central Sangha Nayaka Committee Saya Daw Agga Maha Pandita Venerable Bhaddanta Ñāṇissara of Mahā Gandhāron Monastery in Mayangon Township. Venerable Bhaddanta Ātappa of Yay Kyaw Monastery in Hmawbi Township, also offered apologies and recited the Abhiyācana Nīmantana Gāthā (Verses of Invitation and Supplication). The verse that started with “Aniccā vata saṅkhārā “ (Reflection on Impermanence) was recited and the remains of the Saya Daw was carried to the crematorium. Venerable Bhaddanta Paññissara Bhivamsa was passed away on February 4 morning at the age of 90 years and ordained for 70 years.
