On April 28, one month after the Mandalay earthquake, a ceremony was held at the Seitta Thukha Monastery in Ubotetaw Ward, Aungmyaytharsan Township, Mandalay City, to share merit to those who died in the earthquake.
The ceremony was attended by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman, Thanlyin Mingyaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Candimābhivaṃsa, the Secretary of State Sangha Mahanayaka Committee, Mandalay Masoeyein Taikthit Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vasettha Bhivamsa, invited Sayadaws and monks as well as Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and officials. At the ceremony, the five precepts were given by the Thanlyin Mingyaung Sayadaw and offerings were donated to the Sayadaws and monks.

Then, they listened to the Anumodana Dhamma preached by the Masoeyein Taikthit Sayadaw and the Prittas recited by the Sayadaws and monks and shared merits with those who died in the earthquake. As of April 27, 3,769 were dead, 5,106 injured, and 107 missing in the six regions and states affected by the Mandalay earthquake.
