The traditional Lethwei legend U Saw Hla Min (aka) Thaman Kyar, who was a free class champion of Myanmar traditional Lethwei, passed away at 8 am on January 21 at his home in Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region, according to the people close to the traditional Lethwei community.

Thaman Kyar had been suffering from prostate cancer for a long time and died due to some complications related to prostate cancer, a person familiar with his family said. He was 73 years old at the time of his death.
The death of U Thaman Kyar is a sad event for the world of traditional Lethwei in Myanmar, said Myanmar free class Lethwei champion Tun Tun Min.
Thaman Kyar became a traditional Lethwei champion at the age of 24 and played Letwai until the age of 59.
