China has donated nearly 15,000 tonnes of fuel, 1,120 modular (prefabricated) houses and 160 offices to help with the reconstruction efforts following the Mandalay earthquake, it was announced. The ship carrying the donated goods arrived at Yangon Thilawa (MITT) port on the evening of May 24.

The goods were handed over to Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and relevant officials on the morning of May 25 by Chinese Embassy Economic Counsellor Mr Ouyang Daobing from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar at Yangon Thilawa (MITT) port and BRIGHTER ENERGY oil terminal. The octane and diesel donated by China will be transported to the earthquake-stricken areas by the Ministry of Energy. Modular (prefabricated) houses and offices will also be transported from Yangon Region to the earthquake-stricken areas transferring by crane from trucks to train wagons.
