A drug smuggling gang that was trying to smuggle drugs into China from the “Wa” border was arrested in collaboration with China, the “Wa” special police announced on June 8.
They collaborated closely with Chinese police to successfully crack down on a major drug smuggling operation related to cross-border drug crimes.
The drugs seized at the “Wa”-China border gate, Mang-A Port, were also handed over to China on June 8. the statement said.
The drugs handed over included 727.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 6.2 kilograms of opium, 19 kilograms of heroin, 0.5 kilograms of ephedrine, 0.3 kilograms of suspected drugs, and 65 bottles of drugs. The investigation into the case was initiated after receiving information that the seized drugs were being manufactured overseas and were being smuggled into China, according to the statement. The statement also said that the Wa region is not a major hub for drug crimes, and that the country will continue to firmly maintain border control, crack down on various drug crimes, and maintain regional security and stability.
