An investigation has revealed that a retired professor was killed over a dispute in a land deal, according to the statement released by the Myanmar Police Force on May 1.
The case happened on the morning of April 27 when the relevant police went to investigate after receiving a report that a woman was dead in an uninhabited house in Yayhtwet Village, Patheingyi Township. They found Daw Htwe Htwe, a retired professor, dead lying face down in a pool of blood with cuts on her forehead in a one-story building built in the fields of the village.
A special team was formed to investigate and identify the suspect. On May 1 morning, the suspect, Sai Htun Naw (aka Ko Sai) (aka Kyein Chan Phyo) (aka Ko Phyo) was arrested at a guesthouse in Heho along with gold jewelry, 39 documents on land contract, a motorcycle and over 20 million kyats, the statement said.

According to the suspect’s statement, he and the deceased retired professor Daw Htwe Htwe had an argument over no deal on a land when a plot owned by Daw Htwe Htwe between Yayhtwet Village and Nhankye Village in Patheingyi Township was being shown on the afternoon of April 25. After Daw Htwe Htwe was strangled and hit twice on the head with a brick, he fled with gold jewelry and 50 million kyats in the Belta vehicle she rode in, the police statement said.
According to the Myanmar Police Force, action is being taken against the arrested suspect in accordance with the law.
