The Kayin Border Guard Force (BGF) announced on February 6 that it will work together to eradicate criminals for the development of life of the ethnic people in the border areas of Kayin State.
BGF said that international investment projects carried out in the border areas of Kayin State are not the joint venture of BGF but only the landowner who rents the land.

According to the announcement, as some of the entrepreneurs who rent the land from the investors in these housing projects are involved in fraud and human trafficking, BGF is working together with the Government and international organizations to crack down on them. Since 2023, it has helped more than 2,000 victims of human trafficking return to their respective countries, and it will continue to work with the Government and international organizations to eradicate illegal crimes.
Democratic Kayin Buddhist Army (DKBA) also released a statement on February 5 saying it will cooperate with the international community to combat human trafficking and torture. When assistance is requested by international organizations over victims of human trafficking, DKBA conducts an act of searching for the victims and repatriating them, the statement said.

A citizen said that it was necessary to achieve success in cooperation to combat criminals in the border areas. Local residents in the areas said that the Thai side cut off electricity to the border areas of Myawady, Three Pagoda, Shwekokko and Tachilek starting the morning of February 5 to combat online scams.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has said at the Union Government’s coordination meeting held on February 3 that officials at all levels must strictly deal with the issues of illegal online gambling and financial fraud and that effective action will be taken against those involved in the said illegal activities as well as officials responsible for the relevant areas involved in them.
