An additional 273 foreigners who entered illegally in Myawaddy-Shwe KokKo and KK Park areas in Kayin State were investigated and detained, according to State Administration Council (SAC) Information Team. Between January 30 to February 17, 1,303 foreign nationals were detained in Myawaddy and Shwe – Kokko and KK Park areas after identifying that they had committed illegal online gambling, online fraud and other crimes.
Myanmar-China- Thai tripartite representatives discussed on February 17 to ensure the speedy transfer of foreign nationals detained in Myawaddy to their respective countries.The detained foreign nationals have been said to illegally entered Myanmar through border routes after transiting through some neighboring countries, including Thailand.
It is also stated that the necessary personal information and records have been collected to enable the repatriation of detained foreigners to their respective countries in accordance with legal procedures.
The State has been actively participating to enable the repatriation of detained foreign nationals who committed online scam and online gambling in Myawaddy- Shwe Kokko and KK Park to their respective countries in accordance with legal procedures by collecting personal data and record.
