The Myanmar Police Force reported on December 24 that stimulant tablets, ketamine, ecstasy, and “Happy Water” valued at approximately Ks.2 billion have been seized in the Mandalay Region.
On 17 December evening, acting on a tip-off, a combined team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, stopped a 22-wheel transporter driven by a driver and followed by his companion on 62th Street in Amarapura Township. The vehicle was found to contain 34,400 stimulant tablets. Later that evening , police arrested two men who had arranged for the transportation of the drugs, in Pyigyidagun Township.
After a chain of investigation, a woman was arrested at Natyaygan Village in Amarapura Township with 84,000 stimulant tablets , the report said.
Under further operations on December 20, a man was arrested in a hotel in Chanmyathazi Township with 5.5 kilogrammes of Happy Water, 8,640 ecstasy tablets, 0.2 kilogrammes of ecstasy powder. On December 20, another man was arrested in Aungnan Yeikthar East Ward in Chanayethazan Township with 1.9 kilogrammes of ketamine, 9,600 ecstasy tablets, 9,000 Happy-5 tablets, and 1.215 kilogrammes of Happy Water.
The seized drugs valued KS. 2 billion. Legal action has been taken against offenders of 6 men and a woman and investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional individuals involved in the case.
