The closing ceremony of the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival in Minbu (Saku) Township, Magway Region, was held at 8:30 am on April 17, Myanmar New Year’s Day, according to the pagoda trustees.
At the ceremony, the Ovadacariya Sayadaws of the Board of Trustees of the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda consecrated the Lower Settawya Pagoda and the Upper Settawya Pagoda, and pushed the button to close the glass dome of the Lower Settawya Pagoda and the iron gate of the Upper Settawya Pagoda.
After that, the Ovadacariya Sayadaws and officials released 10,000 large puntius chola fish and 5,000 labeo rohita fish into the Mann Creek as a virtuous act on the Myanmar New Year’s Day.
This year, the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda Festival was held for 75 days from the 5th waxing day of the Tabodwe month of Myanmar Calendar to the Myanmar New Year’s Day, and more than 145,000 travellers visited the festival, according to the pagoda board of trustees.
