The Chinese government will provide an additional 1 billion yuan in aid for Myanmar’s emergency humanitarian relief, Mr. Li Ming, spokesman for the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), said on April 10.
The aid includes urgently needed supplies such as fuel, plank houses, operating rooms, medicines and vaccines and will also send health and disease prevention and control teams to carry out treatment and disinfection work.
In addition, a disaster assessment team will be dispatched to conduct field inspections in the earthquake-hit areas and help make plans for rehabilitation and calamity prevention and reduction.
Inspection teams on cultural heritage and buildings will also be dispatched to inspect, assess, test the strength of the damaged ancient cultural heritage objects and buildings and repair them, Mr. Li Ming said.
The Chinese government announced that it would provide emergency humanitarian relief aid worth 100 million yuan to Myanmar following the Mandalay earthquake that struck on March 28.
