A 13-year-old child drowned in the Thanlwin River in Mawlamyine, Mon State, on April 17 evening, U Soe Myint, a local resident, told One News.
The incident occurred around 5pm on April 17 when four children were playing football by the Thanlwin River near Bridge No. 4 on Kannar Road in Mawlamyine, Mon State. One of the four drowned in the river while they were trying to get the football that was kicked into the river.
Local residents conducted a search and rescue operation at the scene of the drowning, and on the morning of April 18, U Pa Gyi, a freelance diver from Mawlamyine, recovered the body of the drowned child.
The deceased was a 13-year-old boy who lived in Daungmin Neighborhood in Mawlamyine.
The body was taken to the morgue of Mawlamyine General Hospital by the vehicle of Shwe Taung Emergency Social Rescue Association.
