11 solar and hybrid power plant projects are being implemented in some regions and states, Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister at Office of the Prime Minister General Tin Aung San said.
General Tin Aung San who is also the Chairman of Electricity and Energy Development Commission made these remarks at a coordination meeting on solar power plants being built held at the Office of the State Administration Council in Nay Pyi Taw on January 30.
The solar power plant projects currently under construction include four in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, three in Mandalay Region, one in Bago Region and one in Shan State. Their installed capacity is 530 megawatts in total.
In addition, the ongoing hybrid projects, one in Mandalay Region and one in Magway Region, have a total installed capacity of 496 MW, and the total installed capacity of solar and hybrid projects under construction is 1,026 MW. The country’s current electricity generation capacity consists of 28 hydroelectric power plants, 27 thermal power plants and 8 solar power plants with an installed capacity of 6,371 MW in total.
