To continue the reconstruction and rehabilitation work in the earthquake-affected areas with momentum, to further advance the interests of the state and all citizens, to establish a lasting and genuine peace, and to ensure stability, the Tatmadaw has extended the temporary ceasefire period from May 6 to 31, 2025, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services announced on May 6.
During the temporary ceasefire period, ethnic armed groups and other armed groups are notified not to disrupt or damage public transportation routes, damage public life and property, attack security forces and military posts serving law enforcement, disrupt or attack military headquarters, gather, organize, or expand forces that would undermine peace. The Tatmadaw has announced that it will take necessary measures to protect the public and respond to such actions.
Currently, the State Government is working to reconstruct and rehabilitate government offices, housing for residents, and transportation facilities in the earthquake-affected areas, while the international community is also providing support. The Tatmadaw has announced a temporary ceasefire period from April 2 to 30, 2025, aimed at expediting relief and rehabilitation efforts in the earthquake-affected regions.
