Some political parties have already started preparations to compete in the upcoming election, according to some political parties. The People’s Pioneer Party is looking for really good candidates for the election and is also nurturing existing candidates to ensure they are qualified, Dr. Myo Hset Thway, general secretary of the party, said.

The Union Election Commission has set a target for the election to be held in 2025 but has not announced a specific date. However, the parties said the State Administration Council has set a target of holding elections in more than 100 of Myanmar’s 330 townships excluding unstable areas. If elections are held, it will be easier to calculate the number of constituencies once the election law is issued.
So far, party offices have been opened, and candidates for constituencies have been selected, U Htet Aung Kyaw, vice chairman of the National Democratic Force Party, said.

Political parties said that national stability is also important for a successful election. Parties are required to operate in accordance with the election law, and the safety of political parties and Hluttaw candidates in conflict-affected areas is also important, Dr. Aye Maung, chairman of the Arakan Front Party, said.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has said at the coordination meeting of the Union Government held on February 3 that in order to successfully hold the multi-party democratic general election, officials and political parties competing in the election need to make necessary preparations.
