As conscription is a long-term process, it must be managed well and systematically without having no forced recruitment, and the recruitment must be carried out systematically in accordance with the People’s Military Service Law and by-laws, Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye, who is also the Chairman of the Central Body for Summoning People’s Military Servants, said at the coordination meeting of the Central Body on January 28.
There is a lot of misinformation among the public about the conscription, and not only the media but also private individuals are pointing out and criticizing the weaknesses of the bodies of summoning people’s military servants at all levels, General Maung Maung Aye said and warned that if officials are found to be acting improperly regarding the Law, effective action will be taken against them.
It is necessary for officials at all levels to give supervisory measures to ensure improvement of public relations of ward, village and township teams that directly deal with the public, no financial irregularities and action in accordance with the procedures, and the Central Committee is implementing a personal information management system on people’s military servants to ensure accurate and correct statistics and facilitate collecting of the stats entry in the long term, General Maung Maung Aye said.
According to the statement released by the Information Team of the State Administration Council on January 29 , , an official of the Central Committee has said that a report that data on women eligible for conscription is being collected is not true.
