Myanmar Oil and Gas Corporation, under the Ministry of Energy and PTTEP International Company Limited signed an agreement on April 9 to cooperate in increasing the output of the Yadana Offshore Project, said the Ministry of Energy.
The Ministry of Energy and PTTEP have agreed to cooperate to address the declining output of the Yadana Offshore Natural Gas Field, an offshore project that is a reliable for the country, said Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, who attended the ceremony.
As countries around the world undergo an energy transition, they are increasingly relying on clean energy sources like natural gas. Consequently, the demand for natural gas has risen significantly, as has its price. Myanmar possesses substantial reserves of this valuable natural gas, which are being systematically extracted and managed for effective use.
Ko Ko Lwin expressed his delight that not only the people of Myanmar but also the people of Thailand will be able to share in the natural gas produced under the agreement.
