The State Administration Council(SAC) enacted the Law Amendment to the Court Fees Act on February 17. The Law shall come into effect starting from April 1, 2025. The Schedule ( 1 ) Number (1) of the Court Fees Act shall be substituted by this Law. The rates of the Court Fees are raised from the original.
The court fee payable for filing a petition, appeal, or counterclaim with any civil court or tax authority is 0.5 percent of the value of the disputed property or depending on the amount of the disputed property, if it does not exceed Ks. 100 million, the provision states. The fixed court fees are stipulated Ks. 1 million for cases up to Ks. 1 billion, Ks. 1.5 million for cases up to Ks. 3 billion and the highest rate of Ks. 3 million for cases over Ks. 3 billion.
In the Court Fees Act, Schedule (1), numbers (11) and (12), the phrase “kyat 500,000” mentioned in the applicable court fees for applications related to the certification of wills, letters of administration, and letters of succession, shall be replaced with the phrase “kyat 3,000,000 (Three Million Kyats)”, stipulated the Law Amendment to the Court Fees Act.
