It is necessary for private media services to carry out their operations in accordance with relevant media laws and updated directives , Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn said.
He made the remarks while visiting and encouraging television production and broadcasting operations at the SkyNet Headquarters of Shwe Than Lwin Media Company Limited in Botahtaung Township, Yangon, on the morning of June 13.
First, Daw Nang Mauk Laong Seng, senior chairwoman of Shwe Than Lwin Media Company Limited, briefed the union minister on the company’s broadcasting status, expansion plans, governance matters and difficulties encountered in the workplace at the company’s meeting hall.

In his response to the report, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said that private media needed to support the State, that the Ministry of Information was acting as a bridge between the government and private media, that it was necessary to be aware of some online issues, that art could capture people’s attention and that it was better to go with art alone, that it was not easy to make a program like Myanmar Idol stand out. He also expressed gratitude for social and philanthropic operations carried out by the company, saying that the joy obtained in cooking and donating in person for the people affected by the Mandalay earthquake was different from other forms of joy. He gave instructions to the media to carefully follow the established media ethics, the relevant law and directives and made coordination on necessary matters.
After that, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn visited the studios of Shwe Than Lwin Media Company Limited where television production and broadcasting operations are carried out. He then proceeded to visit Shwe Htut Tin compound owned by Shwe Than Lwin Media Company Limited where the relevant officials briefed him on the activities being carried out and studios.
