Union Minister for Ministry of Electrical Power U Nyan Tun said that the relevant departments in the regions should collaboratively work together to expedite the implementation of solar projects across the country. It was stated by the Union Minister at the coordination meeting of the National-Level Renewable Energy Committee held in Nay Pyi Taw on February 13,.

The installed capacity generated by 8 solar power plants connected to the national grid is a total of 240 megawatts, the demand for electricity of the country is increasing by approximately 15 percent annually and as of now, the electrification ratio of 68.69 percent is being utilized said Union Minister U Nyan Tun. Although there is a total installed capacity of 1026 megawatts from 10 ongoing projects, implementation has been delayed due to various difficulties.
In addition, the total installed capacity of electricity production in Myanmar is 6,520 megawatts and the electricity production generated by type is 50 percent by hydropower, 43 percent by natural gas, 2 percent by coal, 4 percent solar, and 1 percent by diesel.
