The 2025 Chinese New Year celebration took place at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on January 25 evening, and it was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife, members of the SAC and union ministers, the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia, officials from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, and specially invited guests.

First, the guests who attended the event cut the ribbon to open the ceremony, and then Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia kicked off the Chinese New Year celebration by pressing a button. After that, a Shaolin monk extended the New Year greetings, and the team of Shaolin monks performed Shaolin Kung Fu. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife offered a commemorative Buddha statuette and a basket of fruits to the Shaolin monks. Later, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife and Ambassador Ma Jia presented New Year gifts to the dance groups and took a tour of the Chinese New Year exhibition booths.

In the second part of the event, the Chinese New Year dinner was served. First, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife and Ambassador Ma Jia painted the eyes of a traditional Chinese lion image and presented New Year gifts to the traditional Chinese lion dance group. Then, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a New Year greeting, and Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Ambassador Ma Jia exchanged New Year souvenirs. After that, Ambassador Ma Jia extended New Year greetings, and Chinese traditional dance troupes, Myanmar traditional dance troupes and artists performed traditional dances, songs, and dances.

In addition, the team of Shaolin monks performed a martial art called Shaolin Shaolin and 18 types of Shaolin martial arts called Shi Ba Bang Bi Qi. After that, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife and Ambassador Ma Jia presented souvenirs of flower baskets to the cultural dance troupes and joined the people who sang the China-Myanmar friendship song “Pan Taing Pwint Se”.
