The natural gas demand of the manufacturing sector including MSMEs will inevitably rise in the future, and it is necessary to make annual plans to meet the future demand for natural gas, Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Admiral Tin Aung San, who is also Chair of the Electricity and Energy Development Commission, said.
He made the remarks on a report by officials concerned during his visit to the Maubin (South) Oil and Gas Field in Maubin Township, Ayeyawady Region, on May 4 morning.

Oil and gas exploration and production is capital-intensive and risky. In addition, it is necessary to take steps to improve extraction of oil and gas from old wells in mature oil and gas fields. Efforts should be made to drill new wells and explore new oil and gas fields, the admiral said.
Admiral Tin Aung San and officials visited the Myanmar Oil and Gas Entreprise’s Aphyauk Natural Gas Field in Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region, and the Maubin (South) Oil and Natural Gas Field in Maubin Township, Ayeyawady Region to inspect the progress of oil and gas production and the ongoing line-seismic surveying for oil and gas exploration in the Sapagyisan-Natsingon area of Kungyangon Township.
