The action has been taken against employees including a Shwebo Township Police Chief who extorted money regarding the enrolling in people military service, according to the State Administration Council (SAC) Information Team. According to a report by a responsible citizen, a financial misappropriation in connection with the people military service in Shwebo Township was investigated on the ground on January 26.

A team led by Shwebo Township Administrator U Kyaw Naing and Township police Major Than Zaw inspected overnight guest registration in No.(4) ward, Shwebo at 7 pm on January 24, during the inspection Maung Kyaw Min Khant (Age 24) found living without overnight guest registration. Therefore, he was taken to the Township General Administration Office said to be enlisted for military service. After that, a Lower Division Clerk from District General Administration Office Thurain Nyunt contacted the parents of Maung Kyaw Min Khant and told them to pay Ks. 13million to exchange with someone else and exclude Maung Kyaw Min Khant in listing people military service. Kyaw Min Khant’s father paid the money on January 25, 3 pm, according to the release.

According to continued investigation, Ks. 13 million was divided into Ks. 25,00,000 for head of Shwebo Township police force Police Major Than Zaw, Ks. 25,00,000 for Upper Division Clerk from Township General Administration Office Kyaw Khaing Latt, Ks. 30,00,000 for Lower Division Clerk from District General Administration Office Thu Rein Nyunt and Ks. 50 for Than Htike Soe who lives in No.(10) Ward in Shwebo, the substitute for Kyaw Min Khant.

Therefore, ongoing awareness campaigns have been carrying out by the responsible persons for the region and state conscription teams to carry out enrolling activities in accordance with the relevant law and not to extort money or substitute other people on behalf of anyone else.
