India and Myanmar are the best neighbors constantly stand with each other through weal and woes, said Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur. The Ambassador emphasized these words at a ceremony commemorating the 76th Anniversary Republic Day of the Republic of India at Wyndham Grand Hotel on December 27.

People Of India and Myanmar are the best neighbours and stand with each other whenever they face difficulties with unity and mutual trust through traditional and cultural relationships, said the Ambassador. The ceremony was attended by the State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Admiral Tin Aung San and his wife, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Ambassadors from foreign embassies in Yangon, chargé d affaires, military attaches, representative of United Nations, responsible and invited persons.

The ceremony commenced with the playing of the national anthems of the two countries and showed a video that features the cooperation activities between the two countries. After the ceremonial procedures, the Admiral Tin Aung San and his wife cut the commemorative cake together with the Indian ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur and his wife and Indian cultural troupes also performed traditional dances at the event.
