The ILO decision would have no effect on Myanmar employers, workers, and businesses operating in Myanmar, so they can continue to work peacefully without worry, the Ministry of Labor announced on June 6.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) adopted a decision on Myanmar on June 5 during its 113th International Labor Conference. According to the statement, the ILO decision was based on political considerations and was taken unilaterally with the intention of applying pressure on the Myanmar government through the ILO. Furthermore, the ILO ruling was made with the intention of exerting political pressure.

The work force is crucial for the development of Myanmar. To progressively achieve the rights of workers in accordance with the law, Myanmar will continue to engage with the international community, including the ILO, to enhance social life and create job opportunities, while maintaining its sovereignty and independence, the statement said. The ILO ruling on Myanmar was based on a violation of ILO Articles 87 (freedom of association and assembly) and 29 (forced labour), and it was determined to take action under ILO Constitution Article 33, according to the statement.
