The Myanmar Embassy in Seoul announced on February 25 that it will take effective action after it was found that passports were illegally stamped and extended with fake seals.
The validity of passports plays an important role for holders, and it is necessary to ensure that they are valid in accordance with the regulations governing their use.

According to the announcement, officials of the South Korean Immigration Service are also closely monitoring and supervising the validity of passports held by foreign nationals, and they are contacting the Myanmar Embassy to inquire about the validity and authenticity of passports held by some Myanmar nationals with stamps for extensions. The Myanmar Embassy also found that some passports were illegally stamped and extended with fake seals.
There have been recent incidents that people holding illegally stamped and extended passports were denied permission to depart the airport and detained, and the Myanmar Embassy has had to provide necessary consular services to those who were denied. Therefore, it is important for Myanmar citizens in South Korea to renew their passports through official means and to follow the proper procedures to avoid unnecessary difficulties and legal action, the announcement said.
