The State Administration Council issued an order dated April 8th, stating that U Than Soe has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Union Election Commission.
The State Executive Council stated that it is establishing and operating the Union Election Commission in accordance with the Constitution and the Union Election Commission Law to organize a free and fair multi-party democracy general election.
Now, the time for the general election draws near, the Union Election Commission has appointed U Than Soe, a member of the Union Election Commission, as the vice-chairman of the commission to carry out its duties more effectively and to provide further support to the Chairman of the Union Election Commission, the statement said.
The general elections will be held between the end of December 2025 and the beginning of 2026, the State Administration Council said.
