The Union Election Commission issued a statement on February 20 saying that it has granted the Kayah State People’s Party (KySPP)’s application for registration as a political party.
The Kayah State People’s Party was granted registration under Section 9 of the Political Parties Registration Law, and its registration number is 56, according to the statement.

Until January 23, 19 parties had applied to the Union Election Commission under Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, and 50 parties had applied for registration and continued establishment as political parties under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, bringing the total to 69 parties.
The Union Election Commission announced that it is continuing to scrutinize the groups that have applied for permission to establish political parties.
