According to the Union Election Commission’s current data, general elections are scheduled for 267 townships. The election in December 2025 will employ both the previously used first past the post (FPTP) and proportional representation (PR) systems.
The statement further indicated that the polls will be held in all regions and states in the priority sequence, with the exception of locations where geographical limits apply. The elections will be held in phases, with dates specified for each phase. The response also stated that the elections will be held in townships where they can be held depending on the current security situation in the area at the time the election dates are published, and the areas where they cannot be held will be announced.

The voting system for the Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw and the regional and state Hluttaws will be a combination of (FPTP) and (PR), and details will be known after the relevant Hluttaw election laws and regulations are promulgated. The statement further claimed that voting in the elections will take place on Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines, which are microcontroller-based and thus highly easy and secure. Furthermore, appropriate Hluttaw Election Laws and Regulations that are compatible with the new electoral system are being implemented and the election will be held in line with the constituencies’ ability to elect members.
