During the clean-up operation conducted in the earthquake-hit Sky Villa Condo in Mandalay, more cash in the amount of over 20 million kyats and gold items were found, according to the statement released by Myanmar Fire Services Department on May 23.
When MFSD, with the use of machinery, was carrying out the clean-up operation, over 17.5 million kyats in cash, 65 foreign currency notes, a driving license, one phone, two watches, a AGD bank book, two KBZ bank books two platinum necklaces, one hand chain were found in Room No. I-9 of Block-B of the collapsed condo and handed over to officials concerned, the statement said.
Similarly, in a room of Block-B, a fireproof safe, 70 million kyats in cash, two gold hand chains, three gold necklaces, six gold earrings, and 5 gold pendants, one gold bracelet, one gold item, eight gold rings, one pair of earrings with stones, a car owner book and documents were found and handed over to the officials concerned. So far, 52 survivors have been rescued from the collapsed Sky Villa condo in Mandalay due to the earthquake, and more than 100 bodies have been recovered.
