The Tachilek Electric Lighting Leading Committee has announced that electricity purchased from Laos has been substituted and distributed in Tachilek on the Thai-Myanmar border. The distribution of power supply system in Tachilek is operating by distributing of 20 megawatts of electricity from Thailand and 30 megawatts from Laos.

Thai cut off electricity to Thai- Myanmar border towns of Myawaddy, Puyathonzu, Shwe Kokko and Tachilek since Fabruary 5, morning, said local residents. Therefore, 30 megawatts of electricity from Laos will be substituted to be able to maintain normal distribution, according to the statement.

The Tachilek Electricity Lighting Leading Committee said that the distribution of electricity resumed on February 5. After Thai had cut off electricity, local residents in Tachilek were concerned about fuel oil as fuel tanker from Mae Sai, Thailand, to Tachileik have stopped transporting fuel oil. As a result, there were long queues of people at the petrol stations waiting for fuel oil.

Fuel oil will be sold normally for household use and commercial use vehicles except buying in large amount, said and responsible person from Tachilek Fuel Oil Association.
