Due to a continuous heavy rainfall on the evening of May 23 in Tachilek Township, Shan State (East) the Mae Sai stream overflowed and some wards in the town were flooded on the morning of May 24.
The circular road in Mae Khaung Ward was inundated approximately 1.5 feet deep and other wards such as Talot Ward, Poon Htun Ward, San Sai (B) Ward and the traffic light at the Ponlo intersection on Bogyoke Road were also flooded, making it difficult to travel. Relevant authorities and social organizations have conducted on-site inspections in the flood-affected areas and are making preparations to prevent loss in the event of a natural disaster.

According to the weather report at 6:00 AM Myanmar Standard Time on May 24, 2.70 inches of rain fell in Tachilek Township, and the Mae Sai Stream water level was at 350 centimeters.
