A fire broke out at a bar building on 77th Street, between 33rd and 34th Streets, Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay, at about 9:30 a.m. on May 28, killing four women, according to the Mandalay Region Fire Brigade.
The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes, and the fire broke out while the bar was undergoing renovations, as it was an earthquake-damaged building. The Mandalay Region Fire Brigade is investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage, according to an official from Mandalay Region Fire Brigade.

Four women died in the fire, and they may have been employees, residents in the area said. In addition, on May 22, a two-story house in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region, caught fire due to refrigerator safeguard overheating, killing four elderly women.
