A total of 1,575 tons of rice donated by South Korea and China under the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve program were handed over to the Mandalay Region Government on June 11.
The rice handover ceremony was attended by ministers of the Mandalay Region Government, representatives of the Secretariat of APTERR, Thailand, and representatives and officials of the Chinese Embassy and the South Korean Embassy in Myanmar. At the ceremony, the donated rice was handed over to the Minister of Social Affairs, Mandalay Region Government, by U Thura Soe, deputy director-general of the Department of Agriculture, and representatives of APTERR Secretariat, Thailand, and representatives of the South Korean and Chinese embassies handed over the rice bags for the earthquake-affected people.
Similarly, 1,610 tons of rice donated by South Korea and China under the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve program for the earthquake-affected people in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory were also handed over to the Nay Pyi Taw Council on June 10.
