During medical tests on YBS drivers who violated the rules, some drivers were found to be using narcotics drugs, said U Lyan Cin Mang, joint secretary of the Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC). Of the 536 drivers who violated the rules three and more times, 14 were found to be using drugs, while 31 of the remaining 1,873 drivers were found to be drugged.
U Lyan Cin Mang said that the drivers who were under the influence of narcotics will have been suspended their YBS driving licenses permanently. YRTC fines the YBS drivers Ks. 10,000 for opening side doors while driving and Ks.30,000 for overtaking. If they overtakes driving violently, their smart cards will be suspended permanently.

In addition, the Road Transport Administration Department is taking effective actions against YBS drivers who violate the rules in accordance with the laws issued, including suspending their driver’s licenses.
In Yangon, general public, students, and employees rely on YBS vehicles for daily transportation, with more than 3,000 vehicles transporting about 1.5 million passengers daily.
